{"id":3277,"date":"2019-05-28T11:22:02","date_gmt":"2019-05-28T08:22:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.refernet.lv\/?p=3277"},"modified":"2019-07-01T11:22:58","modified_gmt":"2019-07-01T08:22:58","slug":"proposals-for-increasing-the-volume-of-apprenticeships-have-been-prepared","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/refernet.aic.lv\/?p=3277&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Proposals for increasing the volume of apprenticeships have been prepared"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On April 2, 2019, the <strong>Cabinet of Ministers reviewed<\/strong> the informative <strong>report \u201cOn implementation and development of work-based learning system to increase work-based learning volume in vocational education system\u201d<\/strong> prepared by the Ministry of Education and Science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The report\nprovides information on the legal framework for apprenticeship type schemes and\nthe analyses on the introduction of apprenticeship type schemes. The legal\nframework for apprenticeship type schemes was approved from 2015 to 2016. On\nJanuary 27, 2017 Employers\u2019 Confederation of Latvia launched the Operational\nProgramme \u201cGrowth and Employment\u201d implementation of the specific support\nobjective 8.5.1 \u201cIncrease the number of students in qualified vocational\neducation institutions by their participation in work-based learning or\nin-company training\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2017 \u2013\n300 students participated in apprenticeships, but in 2018 \u2013 1199 students, who\nmostly are young people aged 17 to 19. Over the course of two years, 25\nvocational education institutions have updated a total of 251 vocational\neducation programmes, while only 20 vocational education institutions are implementing\napprenticeship type schemes. On January 11, 2019, education programmes were\nupdated for apprenticeship type schemes in 90 qualifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Apprenticeship\ntype schemes are implemented by 329 enterprises, of which 75% are micro or\nsmall enterprises. 68% of all enterprises represent three sectors \u2013 beauty\nsector, tourism sector and metalworking, mechanical and engineering sector\n(including mechanics). During the apprenticeships 46% of participating\nenterprises had an employment contract with students, while 54% had a\nscholarship agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The report\nincludes the results of a survey conducted in December 2018 and January 2019 in\ncollaboration with the University of Latvia.
