On 30 May 2018 German-Baltic Chamber of Commerce vocational education award \u201cWE ARE LEARNING 2018\u201d was presented in National Library of Latvia.<\/p>\n

The winners of \u201cWE ARE LEARNING 2018\u201d in category \u201cThe most active apprenticeship mentor at enterprise\u201d were Mr J\u0101nis Tenis (\u201cADS Baltic\u201d Ltd, Liepaja), Mr Viktors Adelmanis (\u201cBucher Municipal\u201d Ltd, Ventspils) and Mr Audris Luka\u0161evi\u010ds (\u201cHansaMatrix\u201d Plc, Ogre). A special gratitude was also given to the finalists \u2013 Mr J\u0101nis Mistris (\u201cDinex Latvia\u201d Ltd, Ozolnieki county), Ms Inga Dobrava\u013cska (\u201cInterspiro Production\u201d, Liepaja) and Mr Art\u016brs St\u0101lmanis (\u201cElizabetes centrs\u201d Ltd, Riga).<\/p>\n
The vocational education prize \u201cWE ARE LEARNING 2018\u201d was presented for the third year within the framework of VETnet implemented by the German-Baltic Chamber of Commerce. The purpose of the \u201cWE ARE LEARNING\u201d prize is to attract wider public attention to an apprenticeship scheme (nationally \u201cwork-based learning\u201d) as one of the ways to obtain a profession in Latvia; thus, contributing to the improvement of the image of vocational education. Furthermore, the implementation of apprenticeship should be continuously promoted, emphasizing the importance of the trainer\u2019s skills, individual contribution and prestige.<\/p>\n
Patrons for the vocational education award \u201cWE ARE LEARNING 2018\u201d are Minister of Economics Mr Arvils A\u0161eradens and Minister of Education and Science Mr K\u0101rlis \u0160adurskis. These awards are given to the apprenticeship mentors at the enterprises. Candidates for the award are nominated by companies.<\/p>\n
To determine the best among the applicants a jury commission was appointed which was represented by: Ministry of Education and Science (MoES), Ministry of Economics, Employers\u2019 Confederation of Latvia, The Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Free Trade Union Confederation of Latvia, German Embassy in Riga and prakse.lv. The jury visited the applicants at their work places and got acquainted with the specifics of the work and its organization.<\/p>\n
