{"id":1181,"date":"2012-11-14T14:38:34","date_gmt":"2012-11-14T12:38:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.refernet.lv\/?p=1181"},"modified":"2012-11-14T14:42:23","modified_gmt":"2012-11-14T12:42:23","slug":"international-conference-upper-levels-of-qualifications-frameworks-should-we-include-professional-qualifications-in-riga-23-10-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/refernet.aic.lv\/?p=1181&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"International conference \u201cUpper levels of qualifications frameworks: Should we include professional qualifications?\u201d in Riga (23.10.2012)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>On 23 October<\/strong> (2012) the Academic Information Centre \u2013 Latvian National Coordination Point arranged an international conference \u201c<strong>Upper levels of qualifications frameworks: Should we include professional qualifications?<\/strong>\u201d that was held in Riga, Latvia (hotel \u201eRadisson Blu Hotel Latvija\u201d).<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <strong>aim <\/strong>of this event was to promote discussion about the possibilities of opening national qualifications frameworks\u2019 levels 5-8, as at present, in Latvia only higher education qualifications are placed on these levels.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The conference was intended for representatives from HEIs and colleges, ministries, national agencies, employers\u2019 organizations, trade unions, and other institutions and individuals related to education issues.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The event was opened by Ms. Lauma S\u012bka, deputy state secretary \u2013 director of the Department of Structural and International Financial Instruments of the Ministry of Education and Science. Mr. Jens Bjornavold, Senior Expert from Cedefop, summarized the experience of the European countries concerning the development of national qualifications frameworks. Experts from Ireland, France, Estonia and Lithuania shared their experience how national qualifications framework levels 5 and 8 were used in their countries.
